Directions

  1. Beat all the ingredients except the apple until it starts to form bubbles.
  2. Add the grated apple and mix with a spoon.
  3. Bake in a cake form sprinkled with flour at 180ºC or 350ºF for about 35 minutes.
  4. Do the toothpick test to make sure it's done.

Recipe Tips

Ensure that the yogurt is at room temperature before mixing it with other ingredients. Cold yogurt can cause the batter to become lumpy and affect the cake's texture.
For added flavor and texture, consider folding in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans into the batter before pouring it into the baking pan. This adds a nice crunch and complements the apple and cinnamon.
Avoid overmixing the batter once you combine the wet and dry ingredients. Overmixing can lead to a dense cake. Mix just until you no longer see dry flour for a light and fluffy texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the natural yogurt with a different type of yogurt?

Yes, you can use Greek yogurt or any flavored yogurt as a substitute for natural yogurt. However, using flavored yogurt may alter the overall taste of the cake.

How should I store leftover Yummy Yogurt, Apple and Cinnamon Cake?

Store any leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, you can refrigerate it for up to a week or freeze it for up to 3 months.

What should I do if my cake doesn't rise properly?

Ensure your baking powder is fresh, as expired baking powder can prevent the cake from rising. Also, make sure you are not over-mixing the batter after adding the dry ingredients, as this can lead to a dense cake.
