Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use instead of Coarse Salt for marinating the ribs?

You can substitute coarse salt with kosher salt or sea salt. If you want a lower sodium option, try using a salt substitute or reducing the amount of salt used and balancing the flavor with more herbs and spices.

How long can I store leftover marinated pork ribs in the refrigerator?

Leftover marinated pork ribs can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Make sure to keep them in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

What should I do if my pork ribs are not tender after baking?

If your pork ribs are not tender after the initial baking time, you can cover them again with aluminum foil and continue baking them at the same temperature in increments of 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, you can increase the oven temperature slightly to help break down the meat fibers more quickly.

Recommended Drink Pairings

Wine

Portuguese: Alentejo Red - This wine's rich fruit flavors and velvety tannins complement the savory and sweet elements of the marinated pork ribs.

General: Zinfandel - A Zinfandel's bold fruitiness and slight spiciness enhance the flavors of the tender, marinated meat.

Beer

Portuguese: Super Bock - This lager's crisp and refreshing profile balances the richness of the pork ribs nicely.

General: Pale Ale - A Pale Ale's hoppy bitterness and citrus notes provide a great contrast to the sweet and savory flavors of the dish.

Other Beverages

Cold Brew Coffee: The smooth and slightly bitter notes of cold brew coffee can enhance the overall flavor experience of the meal.

Joe, on a slow cooker it will most likely be falling off the bone anyway, so I'm not sure you can avoid making it tender.

I'm guessing you could cook it low and slow, 300*F for 3 hours, then brown it as the recipe says in step #3 ?
Or would it be too tender and falling apart to do that?
