Recipe Tips

Ensure that your margarine is at room temperature before mixing it with the sugar. This helps to create a light and fluffy batter, which is crucial for the cake's texture.
To enhance the flavor and prevent the walnuts from being soggy in the batter, toast them lightly in a dry skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until fragrant before adding them to the cake mix.
Avoid over-mixing the batter once you add the flour. Mix just until the ingredients are combined, as over-mixing can result in a dense cake texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute margarine with butter in this recipe?

Yes, you can substitute margarine with an equal amount of unsalted butter. It will give the cake a rich flavor and a slightly different texture.

How should I store the Honey, Walnut and Yogurt Cake?

Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want to keep it longer, you can refrigerate it for about a week or freeze it for up to 3 months.

What can I do if my cake is too dense?

If your cake turns out too dense, it could be due to overmixing the batter or not properly measuring the flour. For a lighter cake, make sure to mix until just combined and spoon the flour into your measuring cup instead of scooping it directly.

I'm going to try this with olive oil instead of margarine. Much healthier.

Keep your fingers crossed for good luck for me. I have this cake in the oven now.
I am not generally a baker. Mostly because I did not grow up with cakes and pies in the house. My mother was diabetic so we always had fresh fruit on hand for snacking, etc.
Will let you know how it turns out.
