  4.  Let it sit for about 40 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200°C or 390°F  and bake for 20 minutes.

Recipe Tips

Ensure your warm water is between 100°F to 110°F (37°C to 43°C) to activate the yeast properly. Water that is too hot can kill the yeast, while water that is too cold will slow down the activation process.
When mixing the dough, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for better consistency, but if you are mixing by hand, ensure you knead for at least 10-15 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. This will help develop gluten for a better texture.
Avoid adding too much flour when shaping the dough. Instead, use a lightly floured surface to prevent sticking. Excess flour can make the bread dense and heavy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the white flour with whole wheat flour?

Yes, you can substitute white flour with whole wheat flour, but it may change the texture and flavor of the bread. If using entirely whole wheat flour, consider adding a bit more water as whole wheat flour absorbs more moisture.

How should I store the leftover dough if I want to keep it for later use?

You can store the leftover dough in the refrigerator for up to 15 days. Make sure to cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or transfer the dough to an airtight container to prevent it from drying out.

What should I do if my dough doesn't rise after 5 hours?

If your dough has not risen after 5 hours, it could be due to inactive yeast or insufficient warmth. Ensure your yeast is fresh and check that the water used was warm (not hot). If it's still not rising, try moving it to a warmer spot or placing the bowl in an oven preheated to the lowest setting for a few minutes before turning it off.
