Ingredients

2kg shrimp (thawed) 1 lemon (sliced)2 tablespoons of olive oil 12 cloves of garlic (sliced)1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1 chili pepper, seedless and chopped100 ml of whisky

With all your ingredients and equipment gathered, you are ready to get started!

Directions

  1. Start by seasoning the shrimp with salt, lemon slices and chili pepper. 
  2. In a frying pan over medium heat, add the olive oil, when hot, add the shrimp.
  3. Keep turning the shrimp as they brown.
  4. Add the sliced garlic and let it fry.
  5. Pour the whiskey on the shrimp and with the help of a lighter or a match, let it flame (Out of the stove).
  6. Return the pan to the heat for another 5 minutes. 
  7. Turn the prawns over. 
  8.  Serve and enjoy.

Ensure that the shrimp are completely thawed and patted dry before cooking to achieve a nice sear and prevent excess moisture, which can lead to steaming instead of sautéing.
For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of lemon juice and some zest from the lemon slices into the dish during the last minute of cooking to enhance the citrus notes without overpowering the whiskey.
Avoid burning the garlic by adding it to the pan after the oil is hot but before the shrimp. Cook the garlic until it's fragrant (about 30 seconds) before adding the shrimp to prevent it from turning bitter.
