Recipe Tips

Before starting, ensure the grapes are thoroughly washed and remove any stems or leaves to avoid bitterness in your jam.
To achieve a smoother texture, consider using a potato masher or food processor to crush the grapes after cooking them with water, but be careful not to over-process if you prefer some chunkiness.
A common mistake is not adjusting the sugar based on the sweetness of the grapes; taste the mixture before adding all the sugar, as some grapes may be sweeter than others, allowing you to reduce the sugar for a more balanced flavor.

I remember the beautiful smell of the grapes cooking. Vavo grew them in the yard. I'd smell them when mowing the lawn. Mom would drain them over night in the cellar hanging in cheesecloth on the clothes line.
