Simple Shrimp (Camarão Simples) Recipe

Ingredients

1 kg of medium sized shrimp1 red onion peeledSalt (to taste)1 chili pepper

With all your ingredients and equipment gathered, you are ready to get started!

Directions

  1. Place the shrimp in a pan and cover with water. 
  2. Add the salt, onion peel and chili pepper, once it boils, remove from the heat and drain.
  3. Place the shrimp in serving pan, cover with a kitchen towel and place in the freezer for about 25 minutes.
  4. Remove from freezer and put it in the refrigerator until serving time.

Recipe Tips

When cleaning the shrimp, make sure to devein them properly by removing the dark intestinal tract along the back; this enhances the flavor and texture of the shrimp.
For added depth of flavor, consider marinating the shrimp for at least 30 minutes in a mixture of olive oil, minced garlic, and the chopped chili pepper before cooking; this will infuse the shrimp with delicious seasoning.
