Directions
- Prep the Base: Cut the puff pastry sheet into 8 equal parts (usually triangles or squares depending on the shape of your dough).
- Add Fruit: Peel and slice the apples into medium-sized pieces. Place about 4 pieces of apple onto each section of dough.
- Season: Sprinkle the apples generously with sugar and cinnamon.
- The Technique: Using a knife, make 3 vertical slits starting from the top of the pastry triangle/square.
- Fold: Fold the pastry from the center toward the outside to enclose the apples (or according to your preferred turnover shape).
- Bake: Place the turnovers on a baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg yolk for a golden finish. Bake for 20 minutes at 180°C.
