Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh cod instead of presoaked cod fillets?

Yes, you can use fresh cod fillets, but you may want to soak them in water or milk for a few hours beforehand to reduce their saltiness. If you use fresh cod, adjust the cooking times to ensure they are cooked through.

What is the best way to store leftovers from Bacalhau á Minhota?

To store leftovers, let the dish cool to room temperature, then cover it tightly with plastic wrap or transfer it to an airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 2-3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or on the stovetop before serving.

What can I substitute if I don't have olives?

If you don't have olives, you can substitute them with capers for a similar briny flavor, or simply omit them altogether. Alternatively, you can use pickled vegetables or a sprinkle of feta cheese for added tang.
