  2. Dip the gelatin sheets in cold water for a few minutes, drain and melt in the microwave at full power for about 10 seconds.
  3. Add the gelatin in the condensed milk and caramel mixture and stir well with a wire whisk.
  4. On the side, beat the heavy cream well until it is firm and then add it to the previous preparation and mix it well.
  5. Pour into a large bowl or individual dessert dishes, decorate to taste and place it in the refrigerator for a while.

Recipe Tips

Soak the gelatin sheets in cold water for at least 5-10 minutes before using. This ensures they bloom properly and dissolve smoothly in your mixture, preventing any lumps in your mousse.
When whipping the heavy cream, stop as soon as you reach soft peaks. Over-whipping can lead to a grainy texture, which will negatively affect the smoothness of your mousse.
To enhance the flavor of your caramel mousse, consider adding a pinch of sea salt to the liquid caramel before mixing it with the condensed milk. This will create a delightful contrast and elevate the overall taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the heavy cream with a non-dairy alternative?

Yes, you can substitute heavy cream with a non-dairy alternative such as coconut cream or cashew cream for a vegan option. Just ensure that the substitute can be whipped and has a similar fat content for the best results.

How long can I store the caramel mousse in the refrigerator?

The caramel mousse can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Make sure to cover it tightly with plastic wrap or a lid to prevent it from absorbing any odors from the fridge.

What should I do if my gelatin doesn’t dissolve properly?

If your gelatin doesn't dissolve after melting, try gently reheating it in the microwave for an additional 5 seconds, or stir it into a small amount of warm water before adding it to the mixture. Make sure it’s fully dissolved before mixing it in.
