Tips for Success

Ensure that your eggs and olive oil are at room temperature before mixing; this helps create a smoother batter and better emulsification, leading to a lighter biscuit texture.

For added flavor, consider infusing your olive oil with herbs or citrus zest before using it in the recipe; this will enhance the overall taste of the biscuits and make them more aromatic.

Avoid overworking the dough once you add the flour; mix just until combined to prevent developing gluten, which can make the biscuits tough instead of crunchy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I substitute for olive oil in this crunchy olive oil biscuits recipe?

You can substitute olive oil with other vegetable oils like canola oil, sunflower oil, or coconut oil. Keep in mind that using a flavored oil might alter the taste of the biscuits.

How should I store the leftover biscuits?

Store the biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, you can freeze them; just make sure to wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and then place them in a freezer bag.

What should I do if my dough is too sticky?

If your dough is too sticky to handle, try adding a little extra flour, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches a moldable consistency. Make sure not to add too much flour, or the biscuits may become dense.

Recommended Drink Pairings

  • Prosecco: The light bubbles and fruity notes complement the sweetness of the biscuits.
  • Chardonnay: A lightly oaked Chardonnay enhances the richness of the olive oil while balancing the sweetness.
  • Sparkling Water: The effervescence cleanses the palate, making it a refreshing choice alongside the biscuits.
  • Espresso: The strong coffee flavor contrasts nicely with the sweetness, providing a robust pairing.
  • Green Tea: The earthy notes of green tea offer a subtle balance to the sweetness of the biscuits.

PR,I did preheat oven, one sheet in the middle rack, the other right under it to the side of it and after 6 minutes I switched them. That's what
I do with Biscoitos. After 12 min. I looked though glass door of even and neither of them had started to brown..After 20 min. It did but were hard as rocks...Oh well.Think I will stick to Biscoitos they always come out for me..no worries. Keep them coming you and your wife are doing a great job posting them, especially for us that remember most of these recipes from childhood!! God bless you both..
