Recipe Tips

When measuring flour, use the spoon and level method to avoid packing the flour into the measuring cup. This will prevent your cookies from becoming dense and ensure they rise properly.
To enhance the flavor of your olive oil cookies, consider using high-quality extra virgin olive oil. This will add depth and a fruity aroma, making a noticeable difference in the final taste.
Avoid overmixing the dough once the flour is added. Mix just until combined; overmixing can lead to tough cookies. If the dough seems too sticky, chill it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before shaping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute olive oil with another type of oil?

Yes, you can substitute olive oil with another type of oil like vegetable oil or canola oil. However, keep in mind that this will alter the flavor of the cookies slightly. For a similar taste, you might prefer using a light olive oil.

How should I store the olive oil cookies to maintain freshness?

To store olive oil cookies, place them in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to one week. For longer storage, you can freeze them in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.

What should I do if my dough is too sticky after adding flour?

If your dough is too sticky even after adding flour, try refrigerating it for about 30 minutes. This will help firm it up, making it easier to handle. Alternatively, you can dust your hands and the working surface with some flour while shaping the cookies.
