Recipe Tips

To ensure the tarts are moist, grate the carrots finely instead of chopping them. This allows them to integrate better into the batter and release moisture as they bake.
Avoid overmixing the batter once you add the flour and yogurt; mix just until combined. Overmixing can lead to a denser texture in the tarts, rather than the light, moist result you want.
When incorporating the orange zest, make sure it's finely grated. Larger pieces can create an uneven flavor distribution and may lead to a bitter taste if the zest is not from an organic orange.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the carrots with another vegetable?

Yes, you can substitute carrots with zucchini or sweet potatoes. Just ensure that the substitute vegetable has a similar moisture content to maintain the tart's texture.

How should I store leftover carrot tarts?

Store the leftover tarts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze them for up to 2 months. Just ensure they are fully cooled before freezing.

What if my tarts are too dry after baking?

If your tarts turn out dry, it may be due to over-baking or the oven temperature being too high. To prevent this, keep an eye on the baking time and use an oven thermometer to ensure accurate temperature.

Recommended Drink Pairings

Beer

Portuguese: Super Bock - This lager offers a light and refreshing profile, making it a great match for the sweetness of the carrot tarts.
