With all your ingredients and equipment gathered, you are ready to get started!

Directions

  1. In an electric mixer, beat on medium speed the sugar, margarine and the egg until a creamy mixture. Add the vanilla extract and beat for another 1 to 2 minutes. Reduce the mixer speed to low, add the flour and beat until it obtains a homogeneous mixture.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  3. Place the dough on a table dusted with flour and knead it a little with your hands. Then, roll out the pastry with a rolling pin dusted with some flour. Cut the dough with cookie cutters and place in a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake about 15 minutes until the biscuits begin to turn golden brown.
  5. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely.
  6. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

Recipe Tips

Make sure the margarine is at room temperature before starting. This will help it blend more easily with the sugar, resulting in a smoother batter and better texture in the final biscuits.
Consider adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg (1/2 teaspoon each) to the dough for an extra festive flavor that complements the holiday season.
Avoid overworking the dough once you combine the ingredients; this can lead to tough biscuits. Mix until just combined and then gently shape or roll out the dough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute margarine with butter in this recipe?

Yes, you can replace margarine with an equal amount of unsalted butter. This will add a richer flavor to your biscuits.

How should I store the biscuits after baking?

Once the biscuits are completely cooled, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or you can freeze them for up to three months.

What should I do if my dough is too sticky to roll out?

If your dough is too sticky, try adding a little more flour, one tablespoon at a time, until you can handle it easily. Make sure to flour your work surface and rolling pin to prevent sticking.
