Directions

  1. In a small container, add everything and mix it well.

Recipe Tips

For a creamier texture, consider whisking in a teaspoon of Dijon mustard or mayonnaise to the dressing before serving.
Make sure to taste your dressing before adding salt; balsamic vinegar can be naturally sweet and salty, which might affect the amount of salt needed.
Avoid using a plastic container for shaking the dressing; glass or stainless steel will prevent any chemicals from leaching into the dressing, ensuring better flavor and safety.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use instead of balsamic vinegar in this salad dressing recipe?

You can substitute balsamic vinegar with red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Each will give a different flavor profile, but they are both delicious options.

How long can I store the homemade salad dressing in the refrigerator?

You can store the dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Just give it a good shake or stir before using as the ingredients may separate.

What should I do if my dressing is too acidic?

If your dressing tastes too acidic, you can balance it out by adding a pinch of sugar or honey to sweeten it. Alternatively, you can add more olive oil to dilute the acidity.

Recommended Drink Pairings

Wine

Portuguese: Vinho Verde - This light and crisp wine complements the acidity of the balsamic vinegar beautifully, enhancing the salad's freshness.

General: Sauvignon Blanc - The zesty and herbal notes of Sauvignon Blanc pair well with olive oil and vinegar, making it a refreshing choice for salads.

Beer

Portuguese: Super Bock - This lager's light body and mild bitterness make it a great companion to the salad dressing without overpowering it.

General: Pilsner - A crisp and refreshing Pilsner provides a clean palate that works well with the oil and vinegar's flavors.

Other Beverages

Lemonade: The bright and tangy flavors of lemonade can enhance the dressing's acidity, offering a refreshing contrast to the salad.
