Directions

  1. Beat the sugar, eggs and butter. Add the pinch of salt, orange rind, orange juice, aguardente, and the flour and continue beating until the batter is smooth. Cover the bowl and set aside for 1 hour.
  2. After 1 hour, pour the batter onto a very floured counter. Knead the dough with enough flour until the batter is no longer sticky.
  3. Roll out the dough into 3á—5 inch rectangles 1/4 inch thick. Make cuts lengthwise  in center of the rectangles.
  4. Fry in hot oil until golden brown. Place on paper towels to absorb any grease.
  5. Blend sugar with cinnamin in a bowl and coat each Coscorões.

Recipe Tips

When mixing the dough, ensure that your ingredients are at room temperature, especially the eggs and melted butter. This prevents the dough from becoming too tough and results in a lighter, flakier texture.
For a unique flavor twist, consider infusing the whiskey with additional spices like star anise or cloves before adding it to the dough. This will enhance the overall aroma and taste of the angel wings.
Common mistake: Avoid using too much flour when rolling out the dough. Instead, lightly dust your work surface with flour and keep the dough as thin as possible to achieve that delicate, crispy texture when frying.
