Directions

  1. Wash strawberries and cut them into pieces. Place the strawberries in a  blender with the bown sugar, wine and rum. Blend well until it turns into a juice.
  2. Pour this mixture into a jug of wine, add the soda pop and stir well.
  3. Add the cinnamon stick, the strawberries pieces, lemon slices and mint.
  4. Mix well with a spoon and let it stand for 15-20 minutes (this will make the flavors mingle and improve the taste of sangria).
  5. Refrigerate to cool and add the ice cubes just before serving.

Recipe Tips

Avoid using overly sweet soda pop, as it can overpower the other flavors. Opt for a lemon-lime soda or club soda to maintain a balance between sweetness and tartness.
For a more pronounced strawberry flavor, macerate the strawberries with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar for about 15 minutes before adding them to the sangria. This will enhance their sweetness and release more juices.
Don't skip the chilling time! After mixing all the ingredients, let the sangria sit in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. This allows the flavors to meld together and improves the overall taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the dry white wine with a sweet white wine?

Yes, you can substitute dry white wine with a sweet white wine if you prefer a sweeter sangria. Just be aware this will adjust the overall sweetness of the drink, so you may want to reduce the amount of brown sugar accordingly.

How long can I store the leftover sangria in the refrigerator?

You can store leftover sangria in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. However, the flavors may start to change as the fruit continues to infuse. It’s best consumed within the first couple of days for optimal freshness.

What should I do if my sangria tastes too sweet or too strong?

If your sangria is too sweet, you can balance it by adding more soda pop or a splash of soda water to dilute the sweetness. If it's too strong, adding more soda pop will also help to lighten the flavor and make it more refreshing.
