Tips & Variations

- To ensure the chicken cooks evenly and remains tender, slice the chicken breasts into thin strips before stir-frying. This increases the surface area and allows for quicker cooking.
- When cooking the rice, use a ratio of 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water for long-grain rice. Rinse the rice under cold water before cooking to remove excess starch, which can make the rice sticky.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan when stir-frying. If your pan is too crowded, the chicken and vegetables will steam instead of sear, resulting in a less flavorful dish. Cook in batches if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the chicken with another protein?

Yes, you can substitute the chicken with tofu for a vegetarian option, shrimp for seafood lovers, or beef strips for a heartier dish. Adjust the cooking time accordingly based on the protein you choose.

How should I store leftovers from this dish?

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, use a microwave or stovetop, adding a splash of water or soy sauce to keep it from drying out.

What can I do if my cabbage is too tough after cooking?

If the cabbage remains tough, cook it a bit longer in the pan with a little more oil or water. Alternatively, you can blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for a couple of minutes before adding them to the stir-fry.
