  8. Remove to wire racks to cool.

Recipe Tips

Ensure your banana is very ripe for the best flavor; look for brown spots on the peel, as this indicates higher sugar content, which enhances the cookie's sweetness and chewiness.
When measuring your flour, spoon it into the measuring cup and level it off with a knife rather than scooping it directly from the bag, as scooping can compact the flour and lead to overly dense cookies.
Be careful not to overmix the dough once you add the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined to keep the cookies tender and chewy; overmixing can lead to tough cookies.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I substitute the butter with a dairy-free alternative?

Yes, you can substitute the butter with a dairy-free option such as coconut oil, vegan butter, or even applesauce for a healthier option. Just make sure the alternative is at room temperature to achieve the right consistency.

How should I store leftover cookies to keep them fresh?

Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, you can freeze them for up to 3 months. Just be sure to separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

What can I do if my cookies turn out too dry?

If your cookies are too dry, it could be due to over-measuring the flour. Make sure to spoon the flour into the measuring cup and level it off with a knife instead of packing it down. You can also add a bit more mashed banana or a splash of milk to the dough if needed.
