Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you can substitute butter with margarine, which will give similar texture and flavor. If using oil, use a bit less than the amount of butter specified, as oil is more concentrated and liquid. But note that this may alter the final taste and texture slightly.
Allow the biscuits to fully cool before storing. Place them in an airtight container at room temperature, and they should stay fresh for about a week. For longer storage, you can freeze the biscuits in a resealable freezer bag for up to 3 months.
If your dough is too sticky to mold into balls, try adding a little more flour, one tablespoon at a time, until it reaches a manageable consistency. Alternatively, you can chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, which can help firm it up.
Recommended Drink Pairings
Wine
Portuguese: Vinho Verde - This light and slightly effervescent wine complements the buttery richness of the biscuits without overwhelming their delicate flavor.
General: Chardonnay - A crisp, unoaked Chardonnay will enhance the sweetness of the biscuits while balancing the richness of the butter.
Beer
Portuguese: Super Bock - This pale lager has a mild bitterness that pairs well with the sweetness of the biscuits, refreshing the palate after each bite.
General: Pilsner - A classic Pilsner offers a clean and crisp taste that complements the biscuit's texture and flavors without overshadowing them.
Other Beverages
Tea: Earl Grey Tea: The aromatic notes of bergamot in Earl Grey tea provide a delightful contrast to the buttery sweetness of the biscuits, enhancing the overall experience.
