  3. Finish filling the jar with the 7up, sprite or similar and ice (to taste).

Recipe Tips

Avoid using fresh berries instead of frozen; frozen berries not only chill the sangria but also release their juices slowly, enhancing the flavor without diluting the drink too quickly.
To prevent the sangria from becoming overly sweet, taste and adjust the amount of brown sugar and soda (7up or Sprite) as you mix. Start with less sugar and add more gradually, especially if your berries are particularly sweet.
Allow the sangria to sit for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld, but avoid letting it sit too long (more than 2 hours) after adding the champagne to maintain its effervescence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh berries instead of frozen wild berries?

Yes, fresh berries can be used as a substitute for frozen wild berries. However, keep in mind that frozen berries often add a frosty chill to the drink, so consider adding ice or chilling the sangria before serving if using fresh berries.

How can I adjust the sweetness of the sangria?

You can adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of brown sugar added. Start with a smaller amount and taste before adding more. Additionally, using a sweeter soda like Sprite or 7up can enhance the overall sweetness.

How should I store any leftover sangria?

Leftover sangria should be covered and stored in the refrigerator. However, due to the carbonation from the champagne, it is best consumed within a day to maintain its fizziness. If you anticipate leftovers, consider preparing a batch without the champagne and adding it just before serving.
